Now with your Google Assistant, you can relive the experience of heading to Hogwarts
"Hey Google, tell me a Harry Potter story."
To celebrate Back to Hogwarts (September 1st), Pottermore Publishing has partnered with Google to grant exclusive access to chapter six of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone via Google Assistant. Thanks to this initiative and the magic of voice technology, us mere Muggles can, even if just for a fleeting moment, get to experience what it might feel like to be a wizard just like Harry, Hermione, or Ron.
Chapter six “The Journey From Platform Nine and Three-Quarters” is especially important to Pottermore’s “Back to Hogwarts” campaign as it marks the first time that Harry boards the Hogwarts Express at King’s Cross Station Platform 9¾ on his way to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This is also the chapter in which J.K. Rowling first introduces readers to some of the most crucial characters from the entire series, including Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Neville Longbottom, and Draco Malfoy.
Getting started is easy, simply chant the incantation: “Hey Google, tell me a Harry Potter story,” at your Google Home device — it’s almost as easy as casting “Accio!”
You can also access this magical experience from your phone, just make sure that you have the Google Play Books app installed (to download: Android and iOS app). Then simply open your Google Assistant. If you have an Android smartphone, your phone already has Google Assistant — just hold down the home button and say “Hey Google, tell me a Harry Potter story,” or download the Google Assistant app to your iPhone.
The feature is live now and available in the US, UK, India, Canada, and Australia. Just chant your incantation to get started.
